Dear Friends,
July 2007
As we get ready to go on holiday in July, our Methodist
conference will be meeting. This year they meet in the popular holiday resort of
Blackpool, at the Norbreck Castle Hotel from Thursday 5 July to Thursday 12
July. I know some difficult issues will be discussed so let us pray as they meet
together.
During June and July Trevor Haigh is making an exchange visit to America which
means an American Minister Hugh Stone will be in his section at Heywood and
Jericho. Hugh comes to us from Osceola in Iowa and I'm sure comes with different
experiences.
If you want to hear Hugh, he will be preaching at Bolton Road on the evening of
the 15th July.
In October we are planning to have a Church weekend at home. The stewards are in
the middle of organizing this at the moment. When we have firm details of the
weekend we will publish them in the notices and in the next Rostrum.
From August 13th we have a week of Holiday Club at the Church. I am sure new
volunteers will always be appreciated by Eddie Eddleston and the Team, so if you
are able to help see Eddie. Also pray for the leaders and children that week.
On 19th August at 6pm there is a special Circuit united service at Tottington to
say farewell to Jill Taylor who is retiring as Lay Pastor at Tottington
Methodist Church. Jill has served as a Lay worker in our Circuit for many years,
but now feels its time to spend more time with her grandchildren. I hope you can
come and support Jill on this occasion.
As I said at the beginning of this message we are going away in July. We are
travelling to Greece, and landing at Thessaloniki Airport, so don't be surprised
if on my return after being inspired I preach from Paul's letter to the
Thessalonians.
So as they say in Greece,"Yassoo" Tea CTOU which means Goodbye - It actually
means Hello as well, but then that's Greek for you.
Every Blessing,
Paul |
